CostEstimator is a free planning tool for U.S. homeowners. We help you understand what a project should cost before you call a contractor — so you can budget with confidence and avoid overpaying.

How our estimates work

Every calculator combines three data sources:

• National cost baselines curated from published home-improvement cost guides (HomeAdvisor, Fixr, Angi), refreshed quarterly.
• Regional multipliers derived from U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data by metro area, applied via your ZIP code.
• Your inputs — project size, material choices, and options that materially affect cost.

What we don't do

We don't sell leads or forward your contact info to contractors. We don't fabricate prices. When data is missing or stale, we say so directly on the calculator page.
